BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont will hold a "Grand Opening Weekend" for its Catamount Store, located at 46 Church Street (across from Old Navy) in downtown Burlington, on September 10, 11 and 12.
The Catamount Store is a 2,300-square-foot retail store on the Church Street Marketplace that offers athletic apparel and UVM-brand products. The store is a joint venture of the UVM Bookstore and UVM Athletics.
On Friday (Sept. 10), staff, student-athletes, and coaches, including Mike Lonergan, Lori Gear McBride and Kevin Sneddon, from the UVM Athletic Department will be on hand from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for a meet and greet opportunity at the Catamount Store.
On Saturday (Sept. 11) the schedule of activities for the "Grand Opening Weekend" includes the Stanley Cup visiting Church Street and the Catamount Store.
The Stanley Cup will be coming to Burlington courtesy of former UVM strength and conditioning coach Paul Goodman. Goodman served as a coach at Vermont for six years before leaving in 2008 to become the strength and conditioning coach for the Chicago Blackhawks, who won the 2010 Stanley Cup.
There will be a parade with the Stanley Cup up Church Street to the Catamount Store from 3:30 p.m. to 4:55 p.m. Members of the public will get an opportunity to have their photo taken with the Stanley Cup for a $5 donation. All proceeds will go to the UVM Victory Club and the Church Street Marketplace Street Outreach Team.
The Stanley Cup will also be present later in the day from 6 p.m.-6:45 p.m. at the UVM Hall of Fame reception at the Davis Center. Tickets to the Hall of Fame Dinner can be purchased by contacting the Victory Club Office at 802-656-0956 or victory.club@uvm.edu.
