Field Hockey Alumni Continue on in the Coaching Ranks

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Four former University of Vermont field hockey student-athletes will continue to stay involved in the sport as coaches this fall. Jen Angers ’09, Danielle Collins ’08, Kristen Heavens ’10 and Kate Lipton ’08 will each be roaming the sidelines this year as assistant coaches.
Angers begins her second season as a graduate assistant coach at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. An America East All-Conference Second Team selection as a senior, Angers made 64 career starts in the Catamount backfield during her career.
The 2007 America East Offensive Player of the Year, Collins has been hired as an assistant coach at Brown in Providence, R.I. This is her second collegiate coaching job as she also was an assistant coach at UMass Lowell during the 2008-09 season.
Coming off of being named the America East Goalkeeper of the Year and 2009 America East Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete, Heavens is a first-year assistant coach at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass.
After coaching both field hockey and lacrosse at Saint Michael’s College, Lipton was hired this summer as an assistant coach at Saint Louis University. As a junior at UVM she was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team.
