He scored the game-winning goal in the 97th minute to lead UVM to an upset win over No. 13 Stanford. He added an assist and also netted his second game-winner with 20 seconds left in double overtime to lift Vermont to a 2-1 win over Central Connecticut in the UNH Nike Fall Classic. O'Neill earned a spot on the all-tournament team at New Hampshire.
RANKED TEAMS
Vermont's upset of No. 13 Stanford marked the second straight year UVM knocked off a ranked team. Last season the Catamounts upended No. 18 UMBC at Centennial Field. UVM has posted a win over a ranked team in six of the last seven years under head coach Jesse Cormier.
MORGAN STANLEY SMITH BARNEY CLASSIC
Vermont is hosting the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Classic for the 20th time. The tournament annually attracts some of the best teams from across the country.
Past champions include Santa Clara, Syracuse, North Carolina, Michigan State and Portland, who took home last year's title.
The Catamounts have won their own tournament eight times, most recently in 2008.
ABOUT THE FIELD
Cornell stands at 1-1 on the year. The Big Red opened the season with a 1-0 loss at Long Island University then earned a 3-2 come-from-behind victory Hartwick in their last outing. Cornell scored three goals in a span of 3:40 to earn the comeback victory. Daniel Haber scored once and assisted on another tally in the flurry and Will Ogden netted the game-winning goal.
New Hampshire is coming off a 1-0-1 weekend to win its own tournament to start the year. The Wildcats opened the 2010 campaign with a 0-0 double-overtime draw against Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Goalkeeper Colin O'Donnell made seven saves in a 1-0 win over Central Connecticut to close out the tourney. He totaled 13 saves without allowing a goal on the weekend to earn MVP honors.
Presbyterian College is also 1-0-1 on the season. The Blue Hose earned a 2-1 overtime victory over Furman to open the year. It was PC's first win over Furman since 1983. Logan Huff scored both goals for the Blue Hose in the win, including the game-winning header 2:31 into the extra session. PC most recently played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw with USC-Upstate on Tuesday. PC was 3-11-2 last season and picked to finish eighth in the Big South Conference Preseason Poll.
