VERMONT WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTEBOOK
The Vermont women's soccer team will travel to West Point, N.Y. to compete in the Black Knight Classic hosted by Army on Friday (Sept. 10) and Sunday (Sept. 12).
UVM will take on Florida Gulf Coast at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and face the hosts, Army, at 2:30 on Sunday.

The Eagles, who play in the Atlantic Sun Conference, are 2-3 on the season. FGC snapped a two-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Arkansas on Sunday. Michelle Kuhnen scored the game-winner with a header off a corner with 51 seconds remaining in regulation.
Jessica Swartzentruber leads the team in scoring with a pair of goals and Stephanie Powers is the team's top goalkeeper, owning a 1.26 goals against average.
The Eagles return 10 starters from last year's team that went 11-5-3 overall and 6-2-2 in the A-Sun. FGC was picked to finish second in the 2010 Atlantic Sun Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Friday will be the first meeting between the two schools in women's soccer.

The Black Knights are ranked 10th in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll. They are riding a four-game shutout streak and stand at 4-1-0 on the year.
Army dropped a 1-0 decision to Sacred Heart in the season opener and has not allowed a goal since.
Kim An leads the team in scoring with seven points on three goals, two of them game-winners, and an assist. Monica Lee and Alex Lostetter have shared the goalkeeping duties through five games.
The Black Knights owns a 6-3-0 advantage over Vermont in the all-time series that dates back to 1992. The two teams last met on Sept. 17, 2000 in West Point and the Catamounts came away with a 2-1 victory in double-overtime.

After closing out a three-game road swing in West Point, the Catamounts return Centennial Field to play three straight home games. UVM takes on Siena (Sept. 15), Temple (Sept. 17) and Colgate (Sept. 19).
