BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont junior
Caitie Green scored twice in a span of 1:21 in the first half to lift the Catamounts to a 2-1 victory over Maine in America East women's soccer action at Virtue Field on Thursday.

In the 12th minute of play,
Sarah Martin lofted in a long service from just over midfield into the box and Green was in great position to finish the play with a header past Maine goalkeeper Claudia Dube-Trempe.
Just over a minute later, Green struck again, this time running onto a through ball from
Annie Monaghan to beat the Maine defense and give Vermont a 2-0 advantage.
Maine ruined the shutout bid with a goal in the 86th minute. With the Black Bears playing with more urgency in the closing minutes of the match, Viven Beil took advantage and beat a UVM defender in the right side of the box and hit a hard low shot to the far post to cut the lead in half.
Vermont was able to hold off Maine for the final four minutes and earn the win.
Ally Ramos was credited with six saves in the Vermont net, while Dube-Trempe made seven stops for Maine.
The Catamounts continue America East action on Sunday (Oct. 11) when they face Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game can be seen online via AmericaEast.tv.
NOTES: Caitie Green has scored three goals and recorded nine points in the last two games … She began the 2015 season with three career goals total.
